It’s been a long winter here in Central Oregon. My horses just stare at me when I check in with them. We are starting to get in shape again together – walking, trotting, stretching, playing some horsey games to just get moving. The winter solstice has been a good rest for us, and even though it’s still cold, they are as ready as I am to get going and get in shape. When it’s time to head out into the wilderness we’ll be ready for … Wilderness camping … the horses love the sweet meadow grass. The skies and alpine lakes reflect the deepest blues imaginable. The air is crisp and clear with the fresh Spring smell of nature, new growth, and occasionally … animal scents. Night time brings on a different experience, awakens different senses … millions of stars interrupted only by the bluish white glow of the moon. For some of the animals in the wilderness, this is their daytime and they call out to mates or other pack members … spreading the word. I often wonder what they might be saying …
Hurry up summer …
